Dean GEORGE WERNER addresses Convention
June 12, 2006

Dean George Werner, President of the House of Deputies,
stressed the dangers of becoming too inward looking, saying 'the danger in
the Church is that we fear the darkness so much we try to protect the light
rather than take it out into the world.' Declaring that 'the stories of this
Church are phenomenal', Werner underlined the importance of sharing our
stories of God's movement in our lives.

He then invited deputies to form
groups of eight from different dioceses to share their passion for their
faith, the contribution of the Episcopal Church to their lives and their
hopes for the Convention. Many deputies took the opportunity to connect with
each other and share important aspects of our shared faith. [Some of the Discussion content is here]
