EVANGELISM

THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS WERE APPROVED BY THE CONVENTION:

Calls every Episcopalian to be able to articulate his or her faith story

Reaffirmed designation 1997-2007 as "Decade of Remembrance, Recognition, and Reconciliation" and urged active welcome of Native Peoples. Significant funding.

Encouraged continued work of 20/20 in reaching out to people of the "new majority"

Congregational Development Office to continue to support church planting

Adopt vision of effective ministries with children, youth, and young adults in every congregation where appropriate. Significant funding.

Encouraged use of faith-based reconciliation model

Charged ethnic ministry desks to continue to develop resources for congregational transformation and leadership development

Every congregation to engage in annual study and review of its common life. Guidelines given

Every diocese to: foster a missional perspective, including a culture of partnership; equip congregations for self-study, strategic planning. Bishops to organize visitations around these principles.
