Mission District Meeting
Dave expressed a desire to spread the meetings more widely around the District, to involve all churches. The next meeting will be hosted by Coventry Cross and St. Peters jointly. The purpose of the Mission District is to join together, provide information and discuss issues, inform parishes of future events, to plan for sponsorship of collaborative District projects, and to discuss Diocesan Convention issues of importance to NW Mission District.
Some parishes are now using these data. Karl has offered to train parish members in use of the software. This information resource can have tremendous value in planning for change in the Diocese. Contact Karl Gustafson here. Jon Davidson then presented a visual demonstration of the Diocesan Web site and some of the various parish web pages on the Diocesan site. He suggested how they can be used, the types of information now available , and the variety of content including the Desert Spirit, television events and future activities. There are many web-sites in the Episcopal church, and the key is how to tie them together and effectively target the right audience. Important is to keep the web-sites up to date. Jon asked attendees to complete a distributed survey on how they now are using the web, and to take that survey for use in their parishes if they wished. Canterbury of Reno is a newly launched Episcopal student campus ministry at UNR for college students ages 18-21. A separate program for young adults (30 somethings) is being considered.
Area confirmations are scheduled for 5:30pm on Pentecost eve at St. Paul's Sparks. For this there will a combined choir from the participating co0ngregations and contact information is posted on the link above. Parishes were encouraged to participate in the scheduled April 30-May 1 work session at Galilee. Arrangements can be made to stay overnight for those wishing to work both days. More informaton on Galilee was presented by Dawn May. Members of the Mission District are invited to Fr. Jim Jeffery’s final Sunday at Trinity on June 26, with a special luncheon in his honor at the Sienna Hotel following the commemoration.

Opening
the meeting at Trinity Church in Reno, chair Dave Mussatti asked each
of the 40 persons attending from 7 parishes to tell of his/her most meaningful
Lenten activity or experience. He then discussed plans for future Mission
District activities, asking each parish to designate a delegate who will
represent that parish in the newly formed steering committee. to oversee
2005-06 district meetings. The group later gathered at the conclusion
of the meeting to plan a tentative agenda for the next gathering of the
District.
