RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED AT CONVENTION

 

Recognize Ceremonies to Celebrate Relationships of Mutuality and Fidelity

“Whereas, the Episcopal Church professes that at its best, a Christian community lifts up its members, freeing their gifts and supporting their life;

"THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:That the 33rd Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada, desiring to support relationships of mutuality and fidelity which mediate the grace of God between those persons for whom the celebration and blessing of a marriage is not available, does hereby recognize that ceremonies to celebrate
the relationships of such persons who are baptized members in good standing in this diocese may be conducted by clergy in the diocese, with the approval of the bishop, respecting their pastoral discretion.”

Partnerships with Dioceses in Kenya

RESOLVED, that the 33rd Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada give thanks for the presence of Bishop Joseph Kanuku and Ms. Clarice Omungu as signs of our growing partnership with Anglican Dioceses in Kenya, and encourages the continued exploration and development of partnerships with
The Diocese of Machakos,
The Diocese of All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi, and
The Diocese of Mount Kenya South

Giving to international development to become 0.7% of the diocesan budget.

RESOLVED, that the 33rd Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada recognizes the dignity of all human beings, and acknowledges the desperate need of adequate funding for nutritional, educational, health care, and development programs across the globe, reaffirms the 74th General Convention’s Resolution D006, challenging all dioceses and congregations to contribute 0.7% of their annual budgets to fund international development programs, and commits itself as a diocese to achieve the 0.7% goal.

Commitment to study and Dialogue about issues of Human Sexuality

RESOLVED, that the 33rd Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada, in its constituent congregations, commits itself to study and dialogue about issues of human sexuality in the coming year, with a report to each mission district before the 34th annual convention.

Thanks for the ministries Eric Heidecker and Richard Henry among us

RESOLVED, that the 33rd Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada recognize the outstanding contributions of the Venerable Eric Heidecker and the Venerable Richard Henry, giving thanks for their many gifts and sacrificial ministry in this place, the good teaching and pastoral care they have offered, and assuring them of our prayers as they open the next chapter in their ministries.

Thanks for the work of the Host Parishes

RESOLVED, that this Convention expresses thanks to the members of St. Thomas, St. Luke’s, and St. Matthew’s for their tireless efforts in hosting this Convention. When molehills turned into mountains the committee persisted in carrying out their duties, allowing the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada to conduct their business.

Thanks for the Music at Convention

RESOLVED, that the 33rd Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada recognizes the outstanding contribution of the Rev. Steve Kalas’ Multi- Parish Hip-Hop Band, giving thanks for their musical gifts that enriched our Services greatly.

Thanks for the presence of Clarice Omungu from Kenya

WHEREAS, Clarice Omungu has traveled many miles from Nairobi, Kenya to be with us at this 33rd Annual Convention, and
WHEREAS, she has served 15 years with Across as the Team Administrator liaison to the Nairobi Base office and coordinating base operations. The Across Mission Statement is “To build the church and communities leading to Sudan being renewed”, and
WHEREAS, she is serving in the Anglican Arch Diocese of Nairobi as Mothers’ Union Vice-Chairlady, and
WHEREAS, she has so generously shared with the Nevada Churchwomen as well as with the whole membership of the 33rd Annual Convention.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the 33RD Annual Convention of the Diocese of Nevada heartily thank Clarice Omungu for being present and sharing with us at this Convention. We pray to our Lord for Clarice’s safe return to her home in Kenya and continued ministry among the people of Nevada and Kenya.

Thanks for ministry of Bishop Joseph Kanuku

WHEREAS, Bishop Joseph Kanuku is a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ in Kenya and the world, and
WHEREAS, Bishop Kanuku has traveled thousands of miles to be present at the 33rd Annual Convention of the Diocese of Nevada, and
WHEREAS, Bishop Kanuku has held up for us the model of St. Philip and the Good Samaritan as examples of Christian Ministry;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the 33rd Annual Convention of the Diocese of Nevada gives gratitude to Almighty God for the ministry of the Rt. Rev. Joseph Kanuku and the growing partnership between the body of Christ in Africa and the United States.

 

Thanks for the gifts of C.T. Fitzpatrick

WHEREAS, C.T. Fitzpatrick has traveled many miles at his own expense, and
WHEREAS, he has devoted himself to explore faith.org to share the light and love of Christ with others;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the 33rd Annual Convention of the Diocese of Nevada heartily thanks C.T. Fitzpatrick for sharing his knowledge and experience with us at this convention.
