Environmental Stewardship Newsletter by Deborah Smith This newsletter is now published in the DESERT SPIRIT. Below are archival issues of the Newsletter Environmental Stewardship # 3 Easter Builders, developers, power providers ---all of us—need to see these new ways of being. New housing tracts need to be laid out to take full advantage of the sun. CC&R’s and building codes need to be drawn with all the new possibilities, not only allowed for, but encouraged. It can be done. Environmental Stewardship #2 March 2004 One parish, St. Paul’s, Sparks recently became dedicated recyclers: The Rev. Britt Olson requested that someone obtain three recycling trash containers. There are now three 25-gallon containers in the parish hall. In addition, there is a box in the copy room for used office pa-per. The local commercial recycling program will pick up all recyclables if their containers are used. This may not be true in all areas of Nevada. Foam cups are not a good thing. Benzene is used to make them as well as CFC’s. The best choice is good old fashion mugs. Environmental Stewardship #1 Greetings, Two years ago I asked Bishop Schori what she thought about conducting on going projects in environmental stewardship. She responded that it was something she would very much like to see and; — Would I consider spearheading this project? I promised that when my youngest finished high school I would. The time has come. I would like to begin by gathering information.
I know that St. Paul’s, Sparks has a recycling program and I hope to bring you that story next month. Thank you ahead of time for your time and help. Sincerely, *Bulletin/Newsletter Announcement: “Deborah Smith (dbreensmith@acninc.net) is beginning to formulate ideas for environmental stewardship for the diocese.
