THE SCHEDULE
If you cannot be present at one of these sessions
or want to make sure your specific questions are answered, send your
question before Sept 14 with your name and parish affiliation to: Frequently Asked Questions about the Walkabouts: Q. Who is visiting on the Walkabout Tour? A. All of the candidates who will be on the ballot at our Diocesan Convention October 12 will be traveling in a large motorcoach, together with the candidates’ spouses, some members of the Standing Committee, Search Committee, Transition Team and media representatives. Questions may be directed to either candidates or their spouses, but time precludes discussing the Search Process itself so we prefer you not ask questions during the presentations of the other persons traveling with the candidates. Q. Who should participate at the "stops" on the Presentation Tour? A. All who is interested in learning more about Nevada’s candidates for bishop is welcome. Both Lay and Clergy Delegates and alternates are particularly encouraged to attend at least one of the events. It is our hope that every member of the Episcopal Church in Nevada will become familiar with the candidates and will discuss their impressions and recommendations with their parish delegates. Q. How will the sessions proceed? A. For Type "A" Sessions: You will be presented information and guidelines for the session and cards to write your questions for the nominees. After an opening prayer, there will be a brief greeting from the host and overview of the session, followed by very brief opening statements from the candidates. As you leave the sanctuary/parish hall, you will receive a space assignment where you will stay for the remainder of the meeting. The candidates will rotate to your space until you have heard from all the candidates. Moderators will lead the conversation in each room. Q. Will I be able to personally ask questions in Type "A" Sessions? A. Unfortunately not, in the interest of time and due to the number of participants we anticipate. You will receive index cards when you arrive for the opening of the meeting. We ask that you use these cards to write your questions. You will be asked to supply your name and parish on each card, and also indicate if the question is for all nominees or for a specific nominee or their spouse only. These questions will be collected by an usher and then used by the moderator. 25 minutes of question and answer time is scheduled for each nominee and their spouse. The moderators will try to ask as many questions as possible in the brief time allowed. If your question is not asked specifically, your topic of interest may be covered in a similarly formatted question. You may submit questions prior to the tour by sending your questions to: <Nvbishopsearch@gmail.com> Questions sent in advance should also include your full name, parish affiliation, and whether your question is for a particular candidate or for all. Q. How do Type "B" sessions differ from Type "A"? A. Type "B" sessions are considerably shorter because of the time necessary to travel throughout our extensive Diocese. Type "B" sessions are built around a Lunch, Dinner, "Coffee" or refreshment stop on the motorcoach tour. Depending on the venue and the host, there will be opportunity for brief Q & A as a group, or informal conversation with both candidates and spouses. Q . May I attend more than one Session? A. Absolutely. You are encouraged to engage the candidates in dialogue at any opportunity during this week. If your questions are not answered, find another stop on the tour and pursue your question there. GUIDELINES FOR NOMINEES AND THEIR SUPPORTERS |
